Livingston
& Doughty, based near Leicester, England, was founded in 1898
when Harry Livingston & Fred Doughty began selling shoe components to
the rapidly growing shoe industry of the time. The company has therefore
had a long history supplying the shoe trade and over time the production
of cork spread bottom filler, known in the trade as Flexofil, has become
the main part of their business.
This is an important component in the construction of the best Goodyear
Welted mens shoes, as it offers unrivalled comfort allowing the shoe to
adopt the shape of the sole of your foot, in a truly bespoke manner. The
shoe can, of course, be repaired many times over so that it retains its
comfort and over time, becomes an old friend.
Livingston & Doughty supply most
of the long established and well known English shoe manufacturers of Northamptonshire
such as Church & Co, Joseph Cheaney, John Lobb, Crockett & Jones,
Loake shoes, Barker shoes & Grenson shoes. They also export their
formula all over the world.
Shoenet was one of the first online retailers
to appear offering this type of shoe.
Shoenet was established by Livingston
& Doughty in 1998 to cater for the growing demand from customers who
understood the superior nature of a Goodyear Welted shoe, and wanted the
convenience of an online retailer offering quality, service and highly
competitive prices.
We pride ourselves in the service that we offer, and since
we have been in the industry for over 100 years, we understand customers
and what they demand, as we know everything there is to know about a Goodyear
Welted shoe.
